Dr. Mike Rathbun is a U.S. Air Force veteran, operations holding founder, and seasoned procurement executive with more than 15 years of leadership experience in technology, government contracting, and operations.
From managing multi-million-dollar IT portfolios to leading cross-functional teams that deliver under pressure, Mike has a proven track record of turning complex challenges into clear strategies and measurable results. He has overseen more than $500 million in vendor portfolios, negotiated savings in the tens of millions, and led digital transformations that improved efficiency by over 25%.
Mike’s journey began in the U.S. Air Force, where he served in two highly technical and mission-critical career fields:
- 2M071 – Missile and Space Systems Maintenance – Maintained, operated, and supervised maintenance on ground and air missiles, space lift boosters, payloads, guidance and control systems, and subsystems. Collected and analyzed system performance data to ensure mission readiness.
- 3C0X1 – Communications-Computer Systems Operations – Designed, installed, managed, and secured Air Force computer and software systems, including servers, network defense mechanisms, and incident response protocols.
In addition to his technical specialties, Mike conducted extensive Education & Training programs, developing curriculum, training personnel, and evaluating mission-critical skills across maintenance, operations, and support functions.
After his military service, Mike transitioned into leadership roles in Fortune 500 companies and entrepreneurial ventures, culminating in founding DuraVault Capital — a veteran-led operations holding firm focused on acquiring and growing government-contracting businesses in construction-related sectors.
